What I Wore Wednesday

Hi! I'm linking up today with Pin-Spired, The Pleated Poppy for What I Wore Wednesday as well as one of my other very favorite blogs Get Your Pretty On. I enjoy these link ups because it helps me to put a little more thought into what I'm wearing.

Our last day of school was this past Friday. I put away the schoolbooks and now have to get our grades recorded. It's been a good school year, but I feel all sorts of emotions knowing this fall will be my daughter's senior year. That doesn't seem possible. We've home schooled all the way from her first day of kindergarten until now. She is our sweet treasure:)

I've mentioned that I received the beautiful Kimberly necklace from Stella and Dot as a gift and I wear it all the time. I am still so thrilled and grateful about it.  You may get tired of seeing it!

I  have never worn jewelry much my whole life, but I've really enjoyed it lately. My husband bought me a couple of different Fossil watches for my birthday back in February and I've loved those, too. I still like this necklace that is on my "wish" list..

and this one is cute, too.

Have a great Wednesday! I also have another post for a recipe I've made over and over. Let me know if you try it.

Blessings! Love - Kathy

Poppy Seed Chicken - A Southern Favorite

I came across this recipe about a year ago on another blog (www.kellyskorner.blogspot.com) and tried it for supper one night. It was a big hit and I've made it many times since then. It is easy to put together and very good served over rice.

I usually start it off early in the day by preparing the chicken breasts first. I cover 3 chicken breasts with water and cook until tender. Later, I shred it and then add it to the rest of the ingredients.

Ingredients:

3 chicken breasts, cooked, and shredded
16 oz. sour cream
2 cans cream of chicken soup
2 T. poppyseed
Crushed Ritz crackers
1 stick melted butter ( I don't usually use that much. I melt about 4 T.)

Mix first 4 ingredients and put in 13 x 9 dish. Cover with crushed Ritz crackers. Melt the butter and pour over the crackers.
Bake at 350 degrees for 20-30 minutes.
Serve over cooked rice.

I wondered the whole time I was baking it if it would taste good. It did! My whole family LOVED it.

If you live in the South, you've probably had this many times. I like serving this with sweet tea for the total southern experience:)

Let me know if you try it!

A Day in the Life

Hi! I hope your Wednesday has been wonderful!

Last night, we had a few guests over for supper. One of our guests is from Baton Rouge, which is where my husband and I first met. She brought the most delicious homemade pound cake and these two gifts.

We had this wonderful coffee with our dessert last night. It is sooo good! Community Coffee isn't available here in Iowa.  I also received an unexpected package from a friend in Missouri this week. She sent me Community coffee in French Vanilla. You can never have too much coffee, can you? Because...

This quote could have been written by me!

I loved having guests last night. The plates and glasses were ready for our company.

We had grilled Teriyaki Chicken with pineapple

and homemade ice cream. I really could skip the meal and go straight for the ice cream.

Have a great Memorial Day weekend! It's so hard to believe that summer is officially about to begin. What are your plans for the weekend?

Much love! - Kathy

Just Some Ordinary Days

Hi everyone!  I haven't posted since the last of April. I kept meaning to sit down and write something, but when I did have a few moments, I would sit and think...then think some more...then think a little more. And then I decided that I had nothing to write about! Everything I thought about posting seemed a little ordinary and plain, but I guess life is made up of quite a few ordinary and plain days. I always like reading about someone's daily life and so I hope you feel the same!

Can I share a few photos along with a few comments?

I ordered a new "Happy" text necklace from Bauble Bar. I really liked the photo of it online, but in person, it was a bit "big" and I felt conspicuous. I also told my husband, "What if I wear a necklace that says "happy" and my face doesn't match up with it?" Sounds funny, but I was serious. I didn't want to be a bad advertisement. So, I sent it back. If they come out with a smaller version, or one that says, 'Happy Most of the Time", I'll be all over that one.

I DID receive this necklace as a gift. Isn't it BEAUTIFUL?!! It is from Stella and Dot and is the Kimberly necklace. I love it and wear it every chance I get! I was so touched to receive it.

My daughter made this raspberry chocolate cake for my husband's 49th birthday a couple of weeks ago. It was a recipe from Giada. She did a fantastic job! Isn't it pretty?

My husband and I spent most of this day cleaning out the garage. I posted several things on facebook such as a baby swing, bike trailer, and lots of home school books.

Everything is pretty much taken and it feels so good to have things cleaned out.  My son told me to post this photo of him on facebook to see if anyone wanted to take him!

And this has nothing to do with anything, but I have always loved Kathie Lee's hair. Don't you?

I also love Amy Adam's hair color.

I would love to color my hair in this reddish color of these two ladies (I think), but I'm not sure I'm brave enough. But I've been thinking about it.

Well, that's about it. We only have about 2 weeks of school left and I am looking forward to a break. As for tomorrow, my husband has another few days off, and we will be clearing out our storage room. I can see all my holiday stuff in there while I'm working, so it is kind of my happy place.

I hope your week is going well! Sending lots of love to everyone reading:) - Kathy

P.S. Thanks, Stacey, a blogger friend from Poofing the Pillows, for encouraging me today!
